Quick Hit: Updates on the Robinson CNN story
Robinson has hired attorneys, his wife has come out with a video
Last week, CNN did a story about an old social media account allegedly used by Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina.
The report describes an online handle “minisoldr” allegedly used by Robinson on an adult forum website where he allegedly made remarks as seen in the CNN headline below. CNN said they won’t post screenshots as proof of these remarks, however.
Catch up on that story here:
Here’s what we know this week.
Robinson campaign staffers “stepped away” from the campaign over the weekend, including main campaign adviser Conrad Pogorzelski, Campaign Manager Chris Rodriguez, Campaign Finance Director Heather Whillier, and Deputy Campaign Manager Jason Rizk.
Additional staffers also left, including Political Directors John Kontoulas and Jackson Lohrer and Director of Operations Patrick Riley.
Official lieutenant governor’s office staff also stepped down months ahead of Robinson’s end of term; Chief of Staff Brian Livecchi, Communications DirectorJohn Waugh, Governmental Affairs Liason Nathan Lewis, and Policy Director Jonathan Harris.
On Sept. 23, Robinson issued a video statement on X that he would be obtaining “aggressive legal counsel” to “hold CNN accountable for perpetrating these lies.”
Robinson did indeed hire the Binnall Law Group out of Virginia.
On Sept. 26, Robinson issued another post on X about the investigation being handled by the Binnall Law Group, specifically mentioning the group’s founder and namesake, Jesse Binnall.
That night, Robinson’s wife Yolanda entered the mix with a campaign email and corresponding text messages. Here’s what went out:
The link in the message goes to YolandaRobinson.com. The landing page title is “The Mark I know,” and has a video of Mrs. Robinson supporting her husband.
