Two pieces of legislation were introduced to stem the Biden administration's "war on appliances."
Last night, I was proud to vote for the SUDS Act and the Refrigerator Freedom Act to stop Joe Biden’s attempt to control what kitchen appliance is best for your family," NC Republican Congressman Richard Hudson said in a July 10 post on X. "North Carolinians don’t want Big Government reaching into their kitchens!"
Seven House Democrats voted for each of the bills. The SUDS Act, , which is dishwasher standards legislation, passed 214-192. The refrigerator bill passed 212-192. Only one Republican voted against it.
The SUDS Act stands for Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards.
The bills are likely to die in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
More To The Story
As noted in one of the paid-subscriber articles on this Substack, the Biden administration's war on appliances goes way beyond gas stoves, hitting 36 residential and six commercial items.
In late December 2023, Biden’s DOE quietly rolled out finalized regulations on appliances on the last Friday of 2023. Americans can expect the changes to hit their wallets in the coming years with the finalized fridge and freezer regulations starting in either 2029 or 2030, depending on the model of the appliance.

One might recall Regan was NC Governor Roy Cooper's Department of Environmental Quality secretary before being plucked by Biden for the federal post.
