"Soft on Crime" ad launched against Stein
Republican Governors Association drops a new ad in the NC Governor's Race
Republican Governors Association drops a new ad in the NC Governor's Race called “Soft on Crime.”
The Republican Governors Association (RGA) has dropped a new ad in the North Carolina governor’s race between Attorney General Josh Stein (Democrat) and Lt. Governor Mark Robinson (Republican.)
The new ad hits Stein for his “liberal, soft on crime policies,” while Stein has recently been trying to up his profile as being the state’s top law enforcement official.
The 30-second ad features Randolph County Sheriff Gregory Seabolt, who talks about Stein promoting an endorsement by a defund the police group just days after four police officers were killed in Charlotte.
Sheriff Seabolt also talks about Stein’s push to eliminate cash bail as well as releasing violent criminals from prison early.
The RGA’s had dropped a seven-figure investment in the North Carolina gubernatorial race so far.

Robinson campaign ties Stein to Kamala Harris
Following President Joe Biden bowing out of his reelection bid, Stein endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Robinson campaign issued a statement on the endorsement.
“By endorsing Kamala Harris for President, Josh Stein has made it crystal clear that he supports all of her radical policies: including sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants and defunding the police,” Communications Director for Mark Robinson for Governor Mike Lonergan said in a statement. “He can pander all he wants, and try to rewrite history, but North Carolinians are not buying it because the facts are not on his side.”
“Like Harris, Stein would turn North Carolina into a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants, and double down on the radical left's dangerous, anti-police agenda. As governor, Mark Robinson will partner with President Trump to secure the border, support law enforcement and make our streets safer again,” Lonergan said.
Stein has refused to take a position on the legislature’s bill requiring NC sheriffs to cooperate with ICE detainers. He’s even claimed sanctuary cities are not real.
Crime in North Carolina may be decreasing (at least on paper), but under Stein’s tenure there have been two serious increases; rape, which is up 53%, and crimes committed by juvenile offenders, including murder, have surged since the 2020 lockdowns. Related topics:

The kickoffs for Robinson versus that of Stein couldn’t be more different. Robinson held his kickoff to become the first Black governor of North Carolina at Ace Speedway in Alamance County. The event was attended by thousands despite inclement weather.
Ace speedway was one of the venues shut down via a lawsuit by Governor Roy Cooper during his COVID-19 lockdowns.
Stein held his kickoff months after making his official announcement. The event, held in a Shaw University gym, had a curated and much smaller audience.
Stein’s campaign refused to give me press credentials to his kickoff event despite the venue being mostly empty and the press area had more than ample room to accommodate more reporters.
