Quick Hit: White House press secretary disabuses media on illegal alien deportation narrative

Almost all deportations are of those with removal orders the Biden admin didn't uphold

White House Press Secretary Karolina Leavitt disabused the media of the idea random illegal aliens were being arrested and deported during the daily briefing on Jan. 31.

"97% of the deportations that this administration has made thus far are of individuals who had a removal order from the previous administration but were never removed from the interior of our country,” Leavitt said.

Her remarks came as she was discussing how new media outlets were being allowed to attend White House press briefings. The Ruthless Podcast’s co-host John Ashbrook was called on as one of those new media outlets participating that day and he asked the question about the arrests and deportations.

She also said, “So this shows that the previous administration was actually defying our laws, and all this administration is doing is simply following the laws, the immigration laws, of this great country."
