NC Democratic Party to hold "anti-DOGE" protest in Raleigh
"Featuring Special Guest "FatCat Elon & the MuskRats,” street puppets with a big brass band"
The North Carolina Democratic Party issued a press release on Mar. 10 announcing an “anti-DOGE” protest to be held at noon on Wednesday, Mar. 12 in Raleigh.
The release says they are also pushing back against DOGE-style activities at the legislature.
“We’re going to let NCGA Republicans, Senator Thom Tillis, and other cowards rubber-stamping the Trump-Musk agenda know how we really feel,” the release states.
The protest is supposed to take place on the Bicentennial plaza, a public space across from the General Assembly set between the NC Museum of History and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences that can be reserved for such events.
According to the release, headlining the protest will be NCDP Chair Anderson Clayton, NCDP 3rd Vice Chair Elijah King, Sen. Graig Meyer (D-Orange), Sen. Natalie Murdock (D-Durham), Rep. Terry Brown (D-Mecklenburg), American Family Voices Executive Director Lauren Windsor and veteran Scott Peoples.
The protest will also feature “Special Guest "FatCat Elon & the MuskRats,” street puppets with a big brass band.”
At the bottom of the release, the NC Democratic Party says, “Newsrooms have our permission to record the rally for use.”
This is the second anti-DOGE/Elon Musk protest this month organized by Democrats in North Carolina.
Earlier this month, on Mar. 4, Durham Democrats organized a protest at a Tesla dealership in Raleigh as well as a “People’s Picnic: Sit to Resist.”
