Biden speech to NEA: My admin has your back
President Joe Biden referred to himself as "Dr. Jill Biden's husband"
As previously reported, this past week Twitter censored tweets containing new business items on the business agenda for the nation’s largest teachers union.
Dr. Terry Stoops of the John Locke Foundation located in Raleigh, North Carolina, tweeted a number of the National Education Association’s (NEA) business items, only to have several of them removed by Twitter for violating unspecified Twitter rules.
Among some of the Tweets issued by Stoops was the NEA agenda item specifically targeting Florida’s law blocking sexual topics and controversial gender identity theory from being taught to the state’s youngest children in grades Pre-K through Third grade.
Christina Pushaw, the communications director for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis picked up on Stoop’s thread and pointed out the speech given by President Biden to the attendees of the NEA’s business meeting.

In his speech, Biden spoke rapidly off a teleprompted and seemed to slur his way through what amounted to just under 2 minutes of remarks while referring to himself as "Dr. Jill Biden's husband."
Biden used the speech to promote student loan forgiveness, mental health investments for K-12 schools, and gun control. He also promised his administration would be “protecting your right to bargain collectively.”
“I will keep my promise to be the most pro-union president in history because I know how much you mean to America,” Biden said in closing before signing off with “God bless you all and may God protect our troops.”
TRANSCRIPT:
Hello everyone, I'm Dr. Jill Biden's husband… a long-time member of the NEA she is.
As Dr. Jill Biden’s husband, I know teaching isn’t just what she does…Teaching is who Jill is and who all of you are.
President Pringle, uh, thank you for your leadership in one of America’s indispensable organizations.
Throughout the pandemic, America witnessed your extraordinary commitment to support students and their families and my administration had your back.
$130 billion dollars from the rescue plan to improve schools ventilation systems, hire more teachers and counselors, increase after school and tutoring programs, and expand summer programs which kids are benefiting from right now.
We're reforming the public service loan forgiveness program - even if you previously applied or denied. Please go to studentaid.gov to see if you qualify for temporary changes that expire on October 31st.
Over 1 million borrowers have already benefitted.
And we also have a key part of my unity agenda that's addressing the mental health crisis and a big driver of that crisis is the epidemic of gun violence.
Jill and I visited families and educators from Uvalde an experience that we're just never going to forget although I’ve gone to others like it.
Their message was just simple: do something you guys… just do something. We did something.
I signed into law the most bipartisan gun safety legislation in 30 years and with your support I also invested one billion dollars in school mental health professionals but.. but… we know there's more to do across the board from tripling federal funding for low-income schools through Title 1 to protecting your right to bargain collectively.
I will keep my promise to be the most pro-union president in history because I know how much you mean to America.
God bless you all and may God protect our troops.
