Biden issues 2,500 more commutations
He now hold the record for the most pardons/commutations by a U.S. President
On his way out the door, President Joe Biden has issued sentencing commutations for another 2,500 people - mainly for drug offenses."
The list of names isn't available on the US DOJ website yet.
In mid-December he issued 39 pardons and 1,499 commutations. That December pardon total doesn't include the all encompassing and retroactive pardon for his son, Hunter.
So, adding in the latest round brings Biden's total to 4,171 commutations and 65 pardons.
Per U.S. DOJ’s statistics, here's how Biden stacks up among living presidents:
Trump: 144 pardons, 94 commutations (first term)
Obama: 212 pardons, 1,715 commutations (over two terms)
Bush: 189 pardons,11 commutations (over two terms)
Clinton: 396 pardons, 6 commutations
Going all the way back to McKinley, Obama is the only one who even comes remotely close to Biden's commutation number.
Biden's pardons include Charles Edward Littlejohn, the man who stole and leaked President Trump's tax returns to the NY Times. Littlejohn also stole and leaked billionaire tax returns too, like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
